Will there ever be a World War III? If so, would it be just like World War I and World War II?

It is very difficult to speculate if there will be a World War III. There is always the possibility that some issue may lead to a global conflict. That issue could deal with a resource like oil. As oil supplies dwindle, it is possible countries might fight to get control of oil supplies, especially if other forms of energy aren’t developed and made affordable.

There could be a global conflict over terrorism. Countries that are being impacted by terrorist attacks might fight countries that either support the concept of terrorism or allow terrorists to use their country as a safe haven or as a place for training future terrorists.

If another global conflict occurred, it probably wouldn’t be similar to the fighting in World War I and in World War II. New technologies have been developed to pinpoint attacks by air. The type of war that might be fought might be similar to a guerilla style of warfare. Quick strikes targeting leaders and other strategic areas might be the norm. While there would still be troops on the ground, it would be very different than the fighting the troops did in World War I and in World War II where one country's army fought another country's army on a battlefield. Guerilla warfare is very difficult to win. Guerilla-style wars take years to fight, and often would appear to be the type of conflict that would be continuous in nature.

It is anybody’s guess if there would be another world war. It is fairly safe to say that if there is another world war, it would be very different than World War I and World War II.
