What is 500 N divided by 0.0001 m2?

A Newton is a unit of force, and m^2 is the unit of area. Thus, this question relates to dividing force by area, which is nothing but pressure.


Pressure = force per unit area 


= force / area = F / A


Here, force, F = 500 N


and area, A = 0.0001 m^2


Thus, pressure = F / A = 500 N / 0.0001 m^2 = 5,000,000 N/m^2


It can also be written as 5 x 10^ 6 N/m^2 or 5000 kN/m^2 or 5 million N/m^2.


Another unit for pressure, apart from N/m^2, is the Pascal (denoted as Pa). Thus, the pressure in case is 5 x 10^6 Pa. We can also use another unit of pressure, psi (1 N/m^2 = 1.45 x 10^-4 psi). In terms of psi, the pressure is 725.2 psi.
