When did Leonardo da Vinci contribute?

Leonardo da Vinci's professional career lasted from 1478 until his death in 1519. His professional career was both vibrant and varied. da Vinci contributed a great deal to society, including art, inventions, and engineering. da Vinci spent a good deal of his time in Florence, Italy during the Renaissance. He was an incredibly talented artist in a time when there was a new appreciation for art. da Vinci is famous for his paintings Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. In addition to these great works of art, da Vinci invented musical instruments, flying machines, parachutes, and pumps. His inventions were usually sketches rather than actual objects he built. da Vinci also drew a plan for a bridge, showing his skill in the field of engineering.  


da Vinci became quite famous in his lifetime, which was somewhat uncommon for an artist in that time. From the late 15th century until the early 16th century, da Vinci contributed greatly to society.
